However, if you are covering a friendly squad, besides giving them intel about enemy movement near their position, if you have a chance to take out an enemy moving on their flank BEFORE he gets into position, I would consider that enemy a target also. Protecting your teams assets from ranges of 300m-1km, providing intel, scouting out Control Points, Strategic Positions, Firebases, and generally running +800m just to get into position to do so, thats a Sniper... 1. Squad Leader gets Officer kit.
2. 2nd member gets Sniper kit. 3. Find secure position preferably high up or hidden. 4. Squad Leader spots targets. 5. Sniper acquires target. 6. Sniper presses 3 and takes a breath for about 6-7 seconds without moving. 7. ???? 8. PROFIT!!! |

Thanks for your reply guys,
I know that a lot of sniper don't know how to use it, so i decide to ask on the PR forum to see who snipe and play some rounds with good players. I am more a recon, longe range engaments or a 2-3 player recon squad guy then a full squad going face to face with the ennemy. In summary, i am a sneaky guy. And a lot of SL don't what any sniper in their squad (i have experience in that). I usualy play between 16h00 and 21h00 east Canada time. PS: Guys don't tell me how to play and what is a sniper role plz. It is a threat to know who snipe so we can recognize Thanks again, Hotfranc |

I kick anyone who takes a sniper in my squad, Im yet to meet one that has a mic or is actually willing to follow me and cover the squad, instead of thinking mountains are the least obvious place for him to be. Its annoying as the kit is so useful for spotting/passing info on to the team, but so many people just think they are going to rack up an insane amount of kills, got owned after a few shots and ragequit.

Snipers are extremely useful at suppressing groups of infantry at long ranges.
Perfect example was this: Qwai River 16, with the last flag being the Qwai Estate where the entire US team was dug in, and the Chinese Team dug in on top of the mountain in their main. They had the advantage of height on us and where firing TOWs and HATs and the like at us in mass. My squad had one sniper kit and I had a stolen chinese one. Basically, we were picking off their infantry at ranges that were simply impossible for other team members. And no, we didn't get many kills at all, because anyone we shot fell behind cover and was rezzed. But for most of the time, we took out their hats before they had a chance to fire. When i do grab a sniper kit in a squad, I will usually hang back a little bit behind the squad and move from good position to good position. Then if the squad leader calls out a target, I see if I can hit him from here, if not I move forward to take em out. The good thing is that sniper has no tracers, so the enemy doesn't know where the shot came from the way it does with normal rifles or an AR |

However I am not sure how realistic a sniper getting in the back of the enemy is, probably not very realistic. On the other hand irl sniper have gullie suits that work. | |
