Well. If your mates are wounded and you get the chance to revive them, the medic kit is the way to go. But if they are dead-dead (I think it's a minute now that you have to live without becoming dead-dead when shot again) or you can't get to their position and are forced to retreat, the rally point can be useful. Of course, if the SL gets killed, you have to rely on the medic, and if the situation is too hot, that won't work either. Hence, protect the SL. If the whole squad is down, the rally point won't help anymore either, of course.

Sadly this is just theory, I didn't really get to play 0.9 yet due to my computer's slowness and the performance issues.

I rather like the new rally system. It means that people can't just drop a rally in a remote corner behind you somewhere and keep spawning in. Because then you have to keep going rally hunting which is also annoying, because if you overrun it you never find it and it gets annoying.
With 6 Firebases on the map, you can get alot of troops to the flags quickly, and since the enemy usually only spawns at firebases, you know what to look for to make them stop spawning.

I know it takes time getting used to, but once you quit your reliance on rallies as permanent spawn points, it starts working again.

The only problem I have is that FBs get overrun so fast, especially in insurgency it becomes extremely hard to defend a firebase since if enemies get to close you can't spawn, and since on insurgency there is a LOT of cover, its very easy for insurgents to get close, meaning FBs get overrun fast.

Also, have you considered not having to reload the rally at a fb, but rather put maybe a 5 min timer between uses? That way if some one joins your squad, you drop a rally, some one joins your squad 5 min later, you drop a rally.
