Ok so I've been looking at the hundreds of posts about people missing training and thought of a small solution that would help more than just brining back training servers. Also it will help new people get on with the game and learn anything new.
So what I'm proposing is setting up a server and giving people the opportunity to join up, and at certain times I or others should be available to assist, answer questions and generally train people in how to play the game. Now you may be thinking that it will take ages for helicopters to spawn etc.. But if an admin is online (such as myself) then it is a simple restart of the round and they're mostly all back after a short while (depends on what map etc). So basically what I'm asking you, is that would anybody be up for using the server and wiling to ask questions to the designated trainers and recommend new people to check the forums for when a trainer will next be online.. Btw, its just an idea :P so please criticise away, and help develop it. |

not a bad idea but this take deication when you could just make a "training" squad on any server and do it that way and they can fly in co-op although the co-op IMO is worse than the training because the AI are so bad they can't land any helis!!!!! which is annoying.

What about the main attack choppers (cobra, apache etc) from what I can tell only Muttrah & Kashan 32 have these now and they don't spawn for 20mins....
So if someone learning to fly these crashes it, you got to wait another 20mins for the next one...... Coop is good but you can't beat one on one tuition on an empty server with instant respawns..... it's the best way to learn in my books... |

This idea has been tried by the Community Events Team and did not garner sufficient support either from trainers or prospective pupils. Maybe it can be tried again now that a new version is out and the take-up may be higher.

Also I want to iterate that this would not only be for flying, but for All assets like medic, as i found yesterday playing that someone had never been a medic, so I went through it with him by purposely getting shot, and then giving him step by step instructions on what to do and I think he learnt from that greatly. Also using heavy weapons such as HAT and (the dreaded) Sniper, AA guns etc. These can all be taught in a relatively short time and then leave them to practice against static or moving targets. But thank you all for the information. It will definitely help in the decision on whether to even start this =]. | |
