Default v0.9 Rally System = Loving It

I had my doubts at first, thinking it would cause much more time spent walking and less time fighting, but what quickly happened in every single map I played today (especially the Iron Fist (?) Russia vs. Chechnya map with the Ferris Wheel that looks like something out of Stalker) was the battle would turn into an actual "front", with both sides facing off across several hundred meters/kilometer. Felt much more like a real battle instead of a bunch of isolated skirmishes. Good work! Would never want to go back to old system.

...disagree with You!!!
running 1km and after that killed with some camped ppl.
remember its still only a game, rally system now suxx gameplay in my opinion.
try to play skirmish on bigger maps.
spawning in MAIN base is same ridiculous as spawning on rally, maybe to be realistic u will have only one life for one game (!) 100% realism. timeout/no rallies, overruned FOB's, half of team hanging in main, that was what I see, after these relase; NO tactics NO teamwork (I was screaming for medic for 5 minutes , 3 in 50m radius, other squads are not interested to healing other players - to risky I think). 4 players to take a med kit its another gaaaay idea; now I cant play with my clanmates in 3, because I cant take a medic, playing w/o medic in 0,9 is a big bullsheet.
Now best is to get a freeakin tank go close to enemy and rape them; or take a marksman or something with good accuracy and scope, camp whole round on enemy FOB... it will loook like this; no INF teamplay, maybe some squad play will increase, but game will suffer in my opinion.
Overall this 0.9 brings a lot of nice new stuff, but I will not play PR because usually I am playing infantry; now? I CANT!.

...and its not only my opinion.

[sry for my english]

Just back from a round on Yamwhatevethenameis, it was amazing teamwork, commander was great, we had brilliant dedicated pilots who would pick you up in no less than 45 secs and bring you to where you needed to be. Incredible team, got my highest score ever, with only 4 kills. Love the new Rally system, promotes teams actually defending positions.

I only really play Insurgency. I am still learning how the Rally system works, but I am not liking it too much so far.
One or more squads keeping the FOB from being destroyed are jsut that many less looking for caches.
You have to "reset" a rally point? That can be achieved by just going back to an FOB or main?

Kind of strange to say you love the new rally system in a way, since 0.9 has basically all but killed off the rally points. I assume you are just happy to see the end of them. For me I am disappointed in this new aspect.

If your squad takes casualties, and you are lucky enough that the leader is not one of them, and he and another squad member can get more than 100m away from every single enemy there is a one off chance for your dead members to come back. The days of crack squads operating behind the lines and causing mayhem are at an end it seems. I used to really enjoy the rally game mechanic. Godammit where the hell are those yankees keep coming from?!?!?! Trying to sniff out the source of the squad. Using your smarts to place and conceal them. Seeing them burst and knowing the there was multiple enemies nearby. A small part of the squad trying to hang until the squadleader can lay a new one to reinforce. A lone wolf running up and knifing one of them. All gone...

As the OP pointed out, the gameplay is now geared towards conventional fighting fronts. I have been on one map where a solid network of FOBs grew out from out main and the two sides kept grinding away on each other. Was kind of fun. A lot of shoveling which I have never been over enthused with. But other games have not had such good teamwork and the amount of time spent walking was horrendous.

Another thing I noticed was how broken up squads now become in general because of this. Before this patch you could look at the maps and regularly see multiple squads cruising around as a single organism, but I don't see it as much so far.

Im liking it, as several people have said it seems to form the battle into a "front", which is fairly realistic!

One thing I dont like is the amount of shoveling required for a firebase, that could and should have been reduced IMHO, as it takes far to long for one person to shovel one up if there is only the SL and one squaddie left somewhere after a FB defense or a big ass firefight! Leaving the other assets at the same shoveling time would still keep the spamminess to a minimum.

I don't like the new rally system one bit.

As Fuhrious so aptly put, the unified nature of a squad has been greatly damaged.
The lack of rally points has merely given squads a lesson in marching, rather than ensuring team cohesion.

As someone said before, the FOB centric game play may work flawlessly if everyone happens to be on the same page. However, this is too rare to be used as an argument in favor of the FOB centric game play. I am looking for many great experiences; more good than bad.

The blatant removal of rallies from play has simply made the game more tedious. We should be reminded that essentially, this is a game at its core. You should not have to replicate every thread in the fabric of real warfare, or else we would be camped out for months for every match and we would also have to force our soldier avatars to eat and defecate every few hours.

I would also go as far enough to say that every faction should be capable of laying down rally points. I would think that modern warfare allows for quick deployment of reinforcements. Whether you are a terrorist faction or a Western military, I would think that reserves and resources are USUALLY at the ready when needed. Especially for factions that claim the territory/map as their home, reserves should be available rather easily.

Is front warfare realistic? I don't believe it is realistic in modern warfare. Two sides are no longer entrenched. Just look to the Israelis and the Americans. Apart from the initial invasion into Iraq, has there really been front warfare (brigade/division) or has it been more platoon/squadron based combat operations?

There are surely a lot of positive developments in the recent PR release, but I believe that a wrong turn has been taken on the rally point front. Definitely upsetting.

Thumbs up Re: .9 Rally System = Loving It

Really i like the new system... It cause the team to create a more concreate logistic system and create front line ! More tactic and you need to be a lot more careful cause your squad leader cant get the rally like he want like in 0.874... Great work !
