Im not digging the RP system as of right now, for the games IVe played Ive noticed alot less action and alot less intensity in the fire fights, and the fire fights themselves are shorter. I thought Id like the new RP system but it feels a bit americas amry-ish to me. I liked the .8 RP system better (enemy passing by kills the RP)

I don't normally like to criticise anything when I know a lot of work has gone into it, but on this occasion I feel I must. offmason, post says it all really - The rally point change has killed all that I liked about this game. I joined a squad tonight and had 4 new squad leaders within the space of thirty minutes. There was no doubt about the reason for them leaving. Once players around them died and had to spawn miles away, the squad leader became irrelevent. Oh, and don't get me started about the long distance running I did after I died.
Sorry, but I hated every minute of every game tonight. Most of it was spent running with no action, no team talk and no tactics at all. I play this game at least 3 times a week, but with this new method I am not sure if I can continue to play it at all. Hope they change it back but I am not sure they will now. |

I loved it but the rally system was kinda a drag, i mean at least give the squadleader more than one rally.

When I first heard about the new changes to the RP system I thought it was a stupid idea. Then I remembered back when the Rally Point system was first implimented way-back-when, I also thought it was pretty stupid at the time. I didn't like the idea of platoons of enemies appearing in an alley in the middle of nowhere coming out and swarming you, but over time I got used to it and adapted to the new way the game was played.
Now we seem to have come full-circle and I must say I'm excited to try out this new flavour of PR. To the person who said it plays a lot more like America's Army -- I actually liked that game (except for the retarded amount of SP "training" you had to go through) because I found it created more realistic, conservative behaviour with people being less willing to run-and-gun everywhere because a single well-placed bullet could knock them out of the game for the rest of the match. Other ways in which the Devs have tried to replicate this -- longer respawn times for one -- really just became annoying. We'll adapt to the new way the game is played and in another couple of years if they decide to re-implement rally points I'm sure we'll see some of the same people saying how crappy an idea it is. |

Not for me it isn't. Rally points is one of the first things I thought make this game really kick arse. So much of the action was bound up in it. It's really what keeps squads together. A tight, maneuverable unit. That was where the teamwork and cooperation were at a peak. Having five squaddies around you, lurking quietly behind lines, getting recon, calling out a compass bearing and opening fie simultaneously. Was great fun that stuff. Now we line up and blob out of firebases. Feels like vanilla BF2 when the team will blob out from one victory point to the next. BF2 had plent of team fronts. Massive head on battles. When I got to PR I kind of liked that it offered that and so much more in terms of team strategy. The rally system was the key to the "so much more" imo.
