Default Since trying to install .9, my computer is incredibly slow loading/processing

Seriously, I have had less difficulty with viruses. What the hell is going on? I double-click on the setup file and instantly my computer fails to do anything. Not only that, but PR then become no less that SIX different processes according to my task manager. Even after I stop all processes related to PR's setup, my computer is still running slow as shit, the CPU spiking a few times every minute.

WTF???

I would have posted this on the PR support forum but I couldn't get my questions answered before it got swamped with .9 complaints.

Basically, you are trying to run a 1.5+GB .exe which is going to slow your system down not matter how awesome it is. Double click the .exe, go away and make a cup of tea and then come back and it will have opened and you can install.

This has been the case for all of the recent versions and is due to the sheer size of the installation.

My brother just had this same issue.

What OS are you running?

He was running Win7 with Microsoft Security Essentials, and were near positive that program is what was causing all the slowdown, this anti virus simply cannot handle large files (not just PR files, ANY large executables) and will slow your computer to a crawl.

if you click the setup file and it makes your computer run slow and takes forever to load...

YOU ALL HAVE VISTA

Disable the UAC

Control panel > User Admin Control > click "turn uac on or off" uncheck the box, hit ok > reboot

then... hit the installer, it will run instantly

after that, get windows 7 :P

that UAC is useless, doesn't stop any virus...

my impression of VISTA UAC:
click a game.... wait for fading black box(3 hours later) "ARE YOOOOOUUU SUUUUUURRRREEEEE you want to run that program? yes or no?

On XP it took about 2m for each installer to appear, but not a problem as I expected it to be big. Maybe it's a Win7 issue.

Im running windows 7, AMD phenom II 3.2ghz quad core, 4gb ram and its been loading the preload for over 15 minutes now....everything else is slow too, including my internet now. Its jsut the size of the file, not your comp..

Got it to install, had to run installation files as administrator. Now, the game crashes before it even loads. I hate being computer illiterate.
