If .9 follows the beta test for rallies the odds of finding a good spot for that rally after parachuting in will be low since only one enemy within about 100m will keep the rally from being placed. Rooftop might help but they will expect you to be there after seeing the chutes.

U have seen to many movies. Parachuters dont just hop out of a plane in bright daylight and there arent any night maps, which is unrealistic since it is kind of stupid starting an assault by day.

Limited special forces kit with a one-time-use parachute for this sort of insertion would solve the crate problem. That is, if it can be done.

But I fear this kit approach would loose it's purpose since a lot of people would probably use it the same way they do in BF2. Although, a thought of a spec ops squad does sound attractive, but their role in the game should be strict and narrow to avoid overusing the kit for general purposes.

I could see spec ops kits, but it would have to be limited to about 4 persons. Probably a SL, Medic, Marksman (to help w/ long range spotting), and either a rifleman specialists equivelant or a LMG. The only purpose of this squad would be to acquisition and lase targets for the commander. But there's still a lot to a real special forces team that couldn't be replicated in the game, because a SF squad would dominate if it was properly replicated in the game (i.e. they have Javelins, lbs of C4, all of them usually have all of the equipment that is issued to the rifleman specialist, all will be using silencers (yes, even SAWs have silencers), most will have M203s). Sounds nice, but I doubt anyone would use the kits the intended way, and I know this is most likely hardcoded, but the commander would have to have control on who gets issued the kits.

Guys, the paratroopers of the Third Reich jumped with only a pistol and their weapons were dropped as crates.

You can see where that got them because we all knew who won the war.
