I'm sure everyone is familiar with the South Ossetia conflict between the various breakaway regions backed by Russia against Georgia (backed by the US and to a lesser extent Israel). I searched and couldn't find any suggestion of this. It seems like it would be perfect for project reality and maybe even make it possible for the first 2v1 map (if possible).
There is plenty of info on all parties involved and it probably wouldn't take much to convert the Chechens into South Ossetians or Abkhazians. The Russians are already done. The Georgians would look a little like US Marines with some of the same gear. Most of the vehicles would already be done as well. The only thing the would require a lot of work are the maps. Here are some images that might be helpful in that endeavor: Tskhinvali, South Ossetia ![]() Kodori Gorge, Abkhazia ![]() Gori, Georgia ![]() Photos from the conflict. |

Sounds like a pretty good idea.
Certainly in keeping with the actual events. But also: In b4 the Russians vs. Everyone Else flamewar that discussions of Georgia/South Ossetia seem to create. |

Might be considered after 0.9 since 0.9 is ALMOST (YAY I HOPE) coming out
I really like the idea about having 2 teams verses 1, I always wanted to see that!...not sure if it works though :P |

I was just thinking, aside from the 2v1 idea, if that's possible, it could also be possible to do a 2v2 idea in a similar fashion within the same line of events. There were many reports of US Special Forces, who were already in the country helping train the Georgian military, actually taking part in the fighting. Whether that's true or not, it would certainly be interesting as far as game-play goes. I imagine it working something like this: Regular Russian Army with vehicles and kits as normal, with a main base and FO's as normal (everything with them, normal). Then the South Ossetian/Abkhazian militia would be like the Taliban in that they use hideouts instead of FO's and don't have tickets. They would be able to use Russian crates for ammo and ride in Russian vehicles (and vice versa) but not man and of the gunner or driver positions. Also, they would not be able to take advantage of the intel given by the Russian commander, but they would be able to type on the team channel. For the Georgians, they would operate like a normal army faction as well. The big difference would come with the US Special Forces. I would imagine they could be dressed in Multi-cam or something to separate them from normal US forces and give them plausible deniability. Unlike their militia counterparts, they would have a small set number of tickets and would only be able to spawn in the Georgian main. The upside is that they would have US equipment and would be able to communicate with the commander as normal. I'm thinking the teams would be split something like this: Russia: 20, militia: 12 Georgia: 26, SF: 6 Any further balancing could probably be achieved with vehicle allocation. | |

First of all Welcome to the PR forums
1/please use the search function as I believe this has already been suggested. 2/The DEVs already have their plate full wit their own map ideas, so your response will be 99% of the time : learn to make it yourself 3/The suggestion forum is the rightful place for this and is only open once 25 posts have been reached for a reason (closed right now to all for different reasons btw) so I recommend you not circumvent this limitation as it is ther e for a reason. thus Locked. |
