Maybe I should read before I post

Fly low. All the time (Cept for attack on kashan) and fly fast.

YouTube Video

This is quite a good video for experienced helicopter pilots.

"Know your battlefield." Don't land in a hot zone and fire flares beforehand in areas that may be AA infested.

Uh, actually I think he's asking for advice.

I'm assuming you're talking helicopters here, so your best bet is to (generally) fly as low as possible, to avoid locks from far-off AA and armor in the distance getting a good shot at you. By flying low, you can use terrain and buildings, etc, to mask your advance. On the other hand, you don't want to nail buildings or anything, so...yeah. Watch for that.

Speed is also important - for example, on Operation Barracuda some pilots will barely ever even touchdown on the island because of the AA threat. It's tough on maps like Muttrah to fly low and fast, obviously, but those two elements, along with good flare usage, provide your best chance of not getting shot down.

Best thing is to have plenty of info from the ground tbh

Mumble Voice Program in Project Reality - Project Reality Forums this helps a bit, but you gotta have your ears open to catch the relevant info to you

If you think an LZ could be hot...it probably is, always make them walk a few hundred meters if it means a safer LZ.

I don't really fly outside PRSP, but I've rode with some of the best and do have some tips:

Don't listen to all the BS about joysticks vs keyboards, its all personal preferance.

You can never use too many flares. Your going to on the Deck or Helipad far longer waiting for your crate then you will waiting for all 30 flares to reload. Just try and keep some around for the flight back.

If your in a helicopter then the best is to generally follow these steps:

1. Get intel of where the troops are
2. Make sure your flares and ammo are fully loaded
3. Start moving and get your ground help to preferably laze the target(even for attack hueys it appears as a big green target square that sticks(if you didn't know :P) to the target.
4. Flare up (even if they say there's no AA)
5. As flaring dive in all guns blazing ^^
6. Get out of there asap (don't return until your loaded up with flares again)

Also general tips are not to fly on the same route more than twice in a row, this will let the enemies set up AA to take you down on your next assault. Do NOT fly over open spaces, always fly where you can hide behind something quickly to get away from enemy fire from behind when your exiting the field (its the cause for most APC > Cobra on Muttrah), best place is near hills, preferably get behind them before you start returning. It may be a longer route but it could be safer. All this needs to be applied correctly and depends on the map/conditions of the round.

If your in a Jet..

-Fly around 1000-2000 ft (away from aa lock)
and only come down when you have a target(pretty self explanatory)

Hope this helps you on the battlefield ^^.

Ive been out of PR for about 4 months now. But i was one of the best pilots on the US servers.

The best tip i can give you is this. " Fly Low and Fly fast"

Another good tip is this. Dont fly your flight path by what your passengers are telling you. If they request a location that is really far from the current objective on the map. Do not fly it. Ive seen people request flags that are uncappable and all the MEC defenses are already built up around it. So the pilot flys in there to drop them and dies instantly.

So only fly locations around the map where it is secured by friendly forces , that is if you want to live for a long time.

I live by this rule when it comes to flying so take it from me , i know what im talking about.

Just don't fly too low. I once had three truck/heli collisions in one Muttrah game while driving supply truck around.
