MEC storyline

I strongly doubt the MEC would be anything other than secular. Most of the powerful nations who would make it up are too moderate to be swayed into becoming omgwtgbbq Islamic.

Also Pakistan has more or less drawn the line with Al Qaida elements in their borders.


Edit: Just re-read your post and if a MEC formed based on those countries, they would be geographically discontiguous and complete indefensible - it would be ludicrously easy to just pick off Pakistan and Somalia then focus on the central alliance. The problem would then become that the central powers you named, even in alliance, are too weak to come near being a reasonable threat to NATO, excepting the war against China which NATO would never even commit to, and which would take up more forces than NATO has at the moment.

The MEC would actually have to be the Middle East for it to be a logical entity. Pakistan probably wouldn't join, but given a few years of good diplomacy, everyone between Egypt and Afghanistan probably would. Much later relations would turn sour with the West over Israel going too far with something, then a MEC with enough clout to actually fight NATO would arise.

If anything, a MEC would probably find itself at war with Insurgents pretty quickly over the moderate, generally most wealthy and largest contributing member states.

It would be a nice plot element if you had the beginning be some precursory introduction to the characters that will lead the armies later on.
Like maybe the first scene could be of some young Afghan Mujihadeen guy fighting the Soviets, who later grows up to take command of a regiment in the MEC army.
And maybe one of the NATO commanders could be introduced as a US Army non-com in the Gulf War, who also rises through the ranks and becomes a colonel or something to fight the MEC.

I dunno, but I think that could work pretty well.
Books and movies that introduce main caharcters through a flashback always seem to work nicely.

I too thought about this I will make it seem like Iran and Syria took Northern Iraq and thus became connected. This way it allows the MEC countries to be all connected and very defensible. I will take Libya and Somalia out thanks for the info I totally forgot about geographic location

If you take it geographically Turkey is exactly a bridge between Europe and Middle East. So its a kind of mixture of both. Though we are giving our most effort to join in European Union lately.

But as military and army wise Turkey goes directly in Europe and US side. Turkey is a NATO member 1952. Right now we are one of the countries who are actively participating the production of "F-35 Lightning II". Plus we have our military forces taking active role as peacekeepers in International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

Strategic alliances between US and Turkey is developing since the end of WW2. Incirlik Air Base in Turkey is part of the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) which played an active role in US's most of eastern operations. And also I did not need to mention Turkey has been fighting with PKK the terror group at the south eastern regions(Northern Iraq) for tens of years.

So if there is gonna be a grouping like that now you decide in which group should Turkey be in.

P.S: Actually for a long time I wanted to mention DEVs about the war between Turkey - PKK Insurgents. If you search for its history and battlefields you'll see that it can make another perfect insurgency map.

PKK being the group closely affiliated with the largely autonomous Kurdish regions in the north of Iraq that threw their lot in with the US during the earlier years of Iraq?

You do mean the Kurds, for whom most of the world has a lot of symphathy and unease for in the wake of the Jewish and Armenian genocides and displacement?

Well, I mean sure, it would be nice to have an Insurgent group whose motives players could actually sympathise with on some level instead of the universal douches we have at the moment.
