Take Barracuda, 64 player version. Landing by chopper and supply drop by chopper is necessary for a firebase and insertion.
Now realize how often initial insertions get shot down, and supply runs get shot down. With no rallies and FOB reliance only, its going to be a thousand times harder than it already is for the US to get a toehold on Cuda and other related amphibious assault maps. Can you say vBf2 Wake Island all over again?!!?! |

Played barra on TG in D version and it was fine. Good fun if you choose a non-obvious spot for a FB.
Edit - and use the long way round for insertions |

So much of the 'problems' we all experience are brought about by impatience on PR. I am certainly guilty sometimes.
On Barracuda: 1. The patience to go the long way round (twice for two crates - one after 0.9 perhaps) to deploy on the south of the island. 2. To wait for an good pilot to return rather than a just competent pilot leaping into a spare one (I even believe on Muttrah and Barracuda its worth leaving a trans. free on the ship as they always lose one or two). 3. The patience to leave the RP far enough away to last (recently a SM was winging about a 3 minute walk). 4. To walk the long (tactical) route. 5. The patience to wait for CAS to be available. 6. Rare to see the boats running when helis are available - boats are good if you're landing somewhere quiet (be nice if they had ammo though). The world and particulally the interwebs/computers/MPO part of it is a very impatient place. |

It will actually be easier with 1 crate needed for a firebase... Previously, people couldn't spawn on each others rally points, now there will be one firebase deployed with every squad that lands on the island.

Well, yes bara will be tougher for the US. But im more affraid of the insurgency maps. BLUEFOR will get pwned on all the small urban maps, and even more on Korengal.
Its just not really possible to build and hold firebases on that map and ambushing vehicles is very easy. So you'll be forced to walk all the way to the cahces EVERY time. Not to sound pessimistic, but i think insurgency will loose alot if rallies are removed... |

-The barn/trenched system on the top of the hill where a flag sometimes spawns -South of Airfield -Docks -Maybe a penisula if a flag isn't there already.... Besides that, there really aren't any good spots on this map to drop FOBs. The map isn't even that big, so any of these FOBs are going to be spotted pretty easily. This map is designed around defending FOBs and individual squads hunting enemy FOBs/RPs, so with the way FOBs get overrun so easily and the amount of time it takes to set up (even with one crate) and the attention (smoke) it draws, Barracuda's gameplay is gonna get nerfed hard by these changes. Everyone always says" well, it worked good on TG..." but TG will also kick you if you crash a helo and make sure their pilots aren't idiots. 90% of the other servers don't. Its gonna be really obvious where the US are coming from too. Even if you flank, the Chinese are still going to have a good idea of where your FOB is by tracking your movements. | |

From the few rounds of Barracuda I played on T&T during the beta, I found that the changes actually benefited the US if anything. The problem the Chinese had, was they were confined to building FOBs in places with road access. The US, on the other hand, could place their FOBs anywhere their choppers could get to.
