Admin should have stepped in. Also a sniper should operate on his own most of the time, but I guess on a map like Kashan a squadleader might embrace a sniper in his squad, although usually marksman does the trick.

I see what you're saying, but I'm confident in my ability to not be a numpy; and so far I've not experienced what you describe.

Compared to most of my squaddies (sorry T&T!) when engaging in a firefight it tends to be myself that survives whilst everyone else dies; and more often than not I'm able to make away from the area undetected and regroup with the re-spawned squad without having to die, myself.

There have been a few occasions where myself, and my learned armour gunner (element) have found our armour-piece destroyed/immobile right on the front line/behind enemy lines, and we have made it all the way back to base on foot without being detected.

I guess what I'm trying to say inbetween giving myself a massive bl000000wjewb is that when it gets hairy out there, I seem to have a knack for knowing when and how to retreat without arousing suspicion (or myself ).

Better yet, the squad leader (Or someone with an officer kit) should only be able to request kits.. since squad leaders are the ones that usually know what the hell they're doing.

Also, sniper squads only work properly if there is a commander. Snipers are for recon, spotting enemy positions / firebases / vehicles, and long range fire support.

Also, you can tell if a sniper squad is the "1337 lone wolf" squad if they either both have sniper kits, or one has a marksman and the other has a sniper. Marksmen =/= Snipers.

Ok, you are Rambo, Simo Häyhä and James bond combined I guess what I was trying to say was that most people are not good enough to pull off what you described and will in the end hurt their own team as much as if they throwed c4 on the challenger and blew it up (A little exaggerated yes, but not far away). But if you are as good as you say, well then I wouldnt be mad at you for going into the city with the sniper if you were on my team. Now, please dont tell me you enjoy HAT sniping on insurgency maps

QFE.
Sniper squads work best when they are relaying information, slowing enemy movement, calling in CAS or Area Attack and so on.

Doing this may mean that the sniper squad get less "kills" as a whole, but they will greatly aid the success of the team!

All Snipers should operate with a spotter. No excuses such as "But I'm l33t".

*edit*
As I write this the ad is for "Sniper Elite" D: P.S are those ads ok?

You're right there is not an excuse such as that; but there is:

1.) Since issuing snipers with GLTD's, spotters really aren't necessary.
2.) I wouldn't like to sit there for a full round looking through a pair of 'nocks, so I don't expect anyone else to, either!

Well, they should IRL, but the way PR portrays the kit makes it often not worth having the extra silhouette. I mean, would you really take an extra 3% of your team away that can't add anything to your role that you can't already do? It's the same with having a cupola gunner in a tank. Sure, it's near impossible to operate without one and live long on certain maps, but on most they're just not worth it.

A sniper squad is useful if it informs the team on the enemy and shoots medics and officers as their fisrst priority.

what about spotters for protection?

i used sniper kit for first time yesterday on TG (as people know, i HATE snipers... actually hate, to many bad experiences) on fallujah, i had the rifle he had officer kit, and he was kept busy alot when moving to positions he would take the lead. he also had to kill numerous people. and when in position he was very vocal on VoIP spotting targets etc.
