The idea of using these weapons ingame actually might have merit, such as removing the enemies comms from play in an obj similar to destroying weapons caches. Why not add this as a "bonus" obj to a insurgency-type gameplay (in addition to caches, a team scoring an effective "kill" on a comms tower or something would give extra tickets to the BLUFOR but wouldn't detract from OPFOR). It would expand the narrow focus which PR is currently limited to, kills and caches.

I disagree with people who said that 12.7 cals isn't use to shoot infantery. This heavy cals allows snipers to shoot at more of 1500 meters. i have read a debriefing which says that a shooter killed a taliban at 2450 meters with a 12.7 cals in a Hecate II.

If PR makes it possible for players to see more than 1000 meters, cals 50. should be used

sorry for my english there are 2 or 3 things i am not sure that is good form ^^

Just wait and see what they do with the sniper class, I know the main reason that people want this is probably because it kills in one hit.

Personally I'm tired of shooting someone in the chest and not having them fly like a fish.

Like I said, they are tweaking the sniper kits for future releases so just wait to see if they make it a 1 hit kill for any rifle. (if you do people won't really freak out over getting the .50 cause the M24/M40 will do just as good a job vs infantry)

doubt it, from experience most want it for the "Leet" factor as snipers are glorified in todays films etc

You're forgetting some laws of physics. In order for that person to go that distance, the shooter would have to go the same distance in the opposite direction.

Muzzle brakes and recoil compensators correct that problem.

But in reality, the .50-caliber is not generally going to do that. The flying bodies was a bug.

it should be like if you right click when recuesting sniper you get a 50.cal. and left click you get the standar sniper.

and limit the 50. to one per team

Here is a simple question.

Why does everyone that agrees want it in PR?

As Ninja2dan has said. Its primarily an anti-material rifle. Designed to disable enemy vehicles and other objects.

It has also been used to exceed the standard range of a normal sniper's rifle. Such as the M24.

PR's current scale doesn't lend itself to 'exceeding' the range of a normal rifle. The engagement size and the lack of accurate depiction of its anti-material abilities are reasons for it not to be in PR.

I'm not going to arguing that it draws 'noobs'. I'm still a noob in many aspects. I also don't use sniper rifles.

I'm not going to say 'It looks cool' as a reason to add it to the game.

What reason do you want the weapon ingame? Give some facts / reasons why it should be added to the game for realism sake and for practicality's sake. Yes the longest confirmed sniper kill was by a .50 caliber weapon however. Its also much farther range then you can engage in PR.

IMO it isn't needed ingame, even though I want it. As it has been said, the PR maps are smaller than the maximum range of this weapon (or the range exceeded), therefore having it is redundant. Noobs are always taking snipers and wasting the kit as is, adding a .50 cal will only make it worse.
