Default New Commander asset options

Last night on Chicago I went commander for the remainder of the match and really enjoyed the new UAV. I was able to spot FOB and apcs and relay the intel to my team. This got me thinking we hardley ever see someone commander because of the lack of participation in the round other than the occasional CAS marker or arty when it is up. What new ideas could we come up with to supplement this position to promote more people going commander and at the same time adding to the game play?

Here are some of my thoughts:
UAV- excellent start. I know it is WIP but thats cool. I felt very useful to the team even in its current limited state.

Deployable assets- perhaps some deployable assets that only commander can approve or supply. Not the regular defences but something "special" like deployable tows.

What are your thoughts guys?

We need MORE FIRE SUPPORT.

The amount of fire support in game right now is really pitiful, considering how often your average soldier is gonna say 'screw it' and call in an airstrike, one good arty hit per hour really does not cut it. It doesn't have to be spammy and crap like vanilla, just an arty strike every 10-15 mins and mortars every 5 mins. Gives the commander something to do and encourages teamwork.

Think how bad that would be on insurgency, every 5-15 min they would just motor the cache....

Are you kidding me? Considering mortars and arty behave unrealistically ingame, that is, they basically destroy everything (mortars need to do less damage imo). That would be terrible for gameplay and it would become a spam fest. How is calling an invisible death radius on every hard point an attacking force comes across at all promotional to teamwork?

We could make caches not to be destroyed by arty.
Sounds weird but could work.

How about spawning the supply trucks only when the commander is available, or making like a vechicle drop in vBF2 just not drop it from way up above, but rather on the ground... Though somehow that should be limited to the main base which seems to smell like undooable...

BEsides if the Blufor guys actually know where the cache is it will go down anyway.

Most Caches today is under a roof or shelter and as far as I know if its inside a building it wont take damage.

We don't exactly want PR to turn into WW1 lol. but i hear what your saying.

any way the arti and mortars strikes don't have enough spread. there’s a video of a mortar strike being called on the moussek in al basrah, the bombardment was completely contained with in the confines of the building every thing else was left un touched and un harmed.

only kind of fire support im sort of ok with is the Jdam.

If you guys think the Commander doesn't have enough to do on a full AAS or Insurgency map, then your doing something REALLY wrong, especially with the new UAV. You should either be:

A. Piloting the UAV and giving contact info to your Squads.
B. Ordering a area strike.
C.Co-ordinating your squads, sending backup to squads that need it, and confirming enemy sightings by your squads.

Sure you might get bored for a minute or two now and then, but for the most part you should have something to do.

I think they should test the idea of Squad Level Fire Support-Brief mortar strike every 30min

Team Level Fire Support-big ass arty strike or Jdam every hour.

So basically every squad that was made, wait 30min per squad but have a limit on how many you can call.

2 Squad Level Mortar strikes per hour with 1 Jdam/arty per team with about 10min apart spacing on each fire support mission to prevent stacking/spamming.

If the team works well, they can coordinate which squad can call it in correctly and the commander can assess which squad he would support then the Team level one can big the grand show!

Mortars should only be like 5salvos (81mm)

Team level strike-arty barrage or jdam

Yes Yes Yes, people will say a spam, but what im thinking is, it would increase the tempo of the game.

Have this ability ONLY on AAS games.

hell, why not have the mortar strikes be a smoke barrage? it would make the game a bit more....interesting with the tactics and such you can do. plus the Commander can have a bit of fun.
