Default RKG-3 and Armor

It seems RKG-3 has no effect what so ever against vechicle in category of 'Armor'.

It's very strange considering it can destroy humvee with 1 RKG-3 in this game.

Is this bug or way it was intended?

If i'm right its supposed to be against old tanks and stuff, and compared to today's armoured vehicles its not effective against armor.

But Unarmored vehicles likeHumvees aren't heavily armored so they will easily take damage from such grenades

Well, in my experience with the RKG, it does slight damage to APCs. I had to land it right on the vehicle, which can be tough if the APC's moving.

Landing one directly on a stationary Humvee resulted in instant yet silent destruction. Of course, the Humvee may have been damaged by road bumps and other sorts of fire before the finishing blow of the throw AT weapon.

I'm not sure if this weapon is meant to damage armor that badly. My guess is, it's supposed to be used alongside RPGs in-game, and maybe a few other players with RKGs never hurt.

By trying too hard, we put ourselves at a greater risk. Don’t you think so?

ive been wondering what the exact purpose of this grenade is myself. i cant seem to destroy any vehicles with it. APCs dont seem to take damage and Humvees are always to quick for me, unless i sneak up on them

Well, It can be capable against APCs who are unloading soldiers, while it's stopped, ambush it with RKG-3s and Gunfire, then it should be enough to get it stopped or even dead..

On Korangal valley, my squad found a flipped Stryker by the outpost so when we all died we ALL spawned as the rifleman with RKG's we all threw them on the top of the Stryker and even the bottom of the Stryker and it only started smoking. We all had to rearmed and throw them on it again to make it catch fire. I think they should do a bit more damage against APC's like the LAV and the Stryker if they land on the top of it.

According to wikipedia.

TNT/RDX with a steel lined shaped charge with 125 mm penetration of RHA and 20 m fragment radius.

RKG-3 grenades have been used North of Baghdad against coalition forces as recently as late 2008 and early 2009. The attacks have mainly been on the U.S. Army Stryker vehicle.

Yeah, not had much luck with them myself; humvees only SOMETIMES get hurt, but usually not.

Yeah RKG's for me are also really hit or miss, they never seem to work on stationary humvees. However, if I can score a hit on a moving one then it's usually a goner.

it's more of a jump out in front of the car and hope it goes off before it runs you over weapon. it works great if you position yourself ahead of a moving vehichle and jump out to throw it

Because they bounce off stationary Humvee, throw the RKG under the Humvee for instant destruction.
