I was playing on Karbala earlier, failed a bit since I was playing so late.
BUt anyway, whenever we were hit by an RPG we'd get tracked immediately. Where we unlucky or are Strkyers coded so that they are more likely to get tracked etc? I would have through wheels would make being tracked less likely since if you lose a wheel you should be ok? |

It is the weakest APC in terms of armor, I believe. Usually one car bomb will take it out, even at a distance.

I've read that IRL it's also less armoured and it's armour is less reliable than say the Lav-25, but I dunno how good my source is.

the first one we survived, but the second one we didn't, though we got a repair crate, the APC stopped flaming, then suddenly it exploded and we don't actually know why that happened crew survived and became a humvee squad until I left form fatigue :P | |

Hm, on Karbala before, my Stryker survived a RPG and then a failed bombcar..
Although, I'd like to see some more Stryker variants in PR The .50 can do some damage when you have good coordination between gunner/driver, But honestly, Stryker can't take a head on hit by a bombcar.. Nor IED in that matter.. |

I usually dont use the stryker by default, since it lacks firepower. And is such a large target, it goes for me unwanting to have such a "menace" on the field.
I would enjoy a far more lighter veichle, like a hummwee, with a very powerful gun and a high rate of fire. But thats just to get the assymetrical thingy working, i dont know if its realistic. |

The Stryker is a fair support weapon. You have to use them well, and to their advantage. They have extreme range. Which makes them extremely effective for covering squads. Spare they do not have very sharp teeth. The skill of the gunner plays a massive role with Strykers. You cannot just pump HE into the area until things dies. You have to hit you targets.
I've had some extremely good runs with the Stryker. Again...we kept our distance...and had gun trucks covering us as well. From bomb cars etc. |

Im more of a "put as much fire on that place as possible" rather than "hit that one tiny part of the soldier sticking out" kinda guy. And i like to be safe...
You know, americans say bigger is better, the stryker doesnt tell this message to the rest of the world. I mean, imagine a motorised/mechanized battalion of US army moving into some city in the future with stryker, the talibans/insurgenst would go, "What is the bloddy british doing here?" But, then again maybe their gonna use that weird side armor on the stryker. |

I am not entirely sure how effective the Stryker is IRL. I talked to a few Cav Scouts, they say they really like the Stryker. The ride is a lot smoother. It's faster, quieter, and more reliable in the field than tracked IFVs.
In PR...they are glorified guntrucks. If you had a HMMV with crows that could fit six soldiers, you'd have a Stryker minus the big profile. |
