Hell yeah! I've got mesmerized by that kind of teamwork! The 2 guys on the humvee coming along with our squad on foot, communicating efficiently with us, giving some damn good cover. Damn, i've had only seen that on movies and promotional PR videos hahaha

Using mumble to communicate with your squad forces everyone on the squad to stick together. I've joined some squads on mumble servers who much rarely uses mumble, and the teamwork was not the same.... also it was kind half the fun. And i think we all play the game for the fun, rite?

The other problem is adminning 2 channels - the Reality Teamwork servers often have all 64 players on mumble, so constantly making sure everyone that is in the correct channel would be an admin's nightmare.

If auto channel switching was implemented, then it could certainly be looked at, but at the moment I dont think that 2 channels is a better system.
Although fun, it doesn't really promote teamwork to talk to the other team. What I would like is:

Two SL channels, one for each team. Everyone is in the same big channel, mumble would place SLs and the commander into the SL channel for their team automatically. Each team can only understand their teammates, when you would normally hear the other team it would spout gibberish in the team's language. ie if you would normally hear the other side talk you would hear voices, but not what they are saying (due to the language barrier). no needed channel admin needed, people couldn't switch channels to listen to the other team.

Short of that two channels gives me the option to 'verbally point out' what I want to a blue teammate in place of hand motions, which we don't have. My comment above was specific to everyone in the server being in the same channel.

Actually an additional squad chat button would be nice just to have the faster communication to squad mates (like in a multi vehicle squad) to replace the BF2 VOIP. So there would be general, squad, SL channels.

Mumble is not mumble if you cant hear your enemy talking. Its realistic and simply why i like mumble. It gives you the atmosphere.Make 2 Channels for the teams and you kill the whole realism and the fun.Whats the point in that. You cant hear a enemy screaming or swearing in a firefight, bodies yelling i lost my leg aaa too much blood.I think its the only essence of mumble.Ofcourse talking to your friendlies is good and very handy.I think just leave the mumble as it is now.

Most likely he would simply be in shock and not screaming. People tend to act like they see in the movies, which is way more vocal than real life and frankly just annoying.

O well it depends ... the reactions are very different for every soldier. However being able to hear the enemy talking when he is close is totally realistic and a great addition to PR IMO.

It is the server admins decision if he wants two different channels for his server but I highly endrose the one-channel method.

If you use 2 channels you also miss all the inter round chats, which tend to be quite amusing, and definitely help build a sense of community imo.

that is true

but mumble is a teamwork facilitator

do you want the semi-realism of hearing the enemy, or the teamwork benefits in all their glory?

I wont be using mumble if there are 2 channels.Simply no point really.Ofcourse talking to friendlies is important but hearing the enemy is priceless.
