Yeah, think of BF VOIP as whispering/doing hand motions or talking quietly into a radio as opposed to mumble being shouting at nearby players.

People need to realize that Mumble is for talking to blue guys. 99% of the time you will be using the BF2 voip for squad communication, especially in an infantry squad. I hope people get over the novelty factor and cut down on the spam.

Hmmm, but sometimes really i find it better to talk on mumble than on voip, with my squad.
Not to mention the realism factor, you could hear an enemy squad talking and stuff.

Luzinhuu i see you liked mumble its not possible not to like it.I am happy that i brought a mumbler to the mumble society That was some nice rounds that day right?

Never use Bf 2 Voip just when your squad members are far away you should other than that always talk on mumble.Whatever the situation is whatever happens. If there are hostiles close by just be quiet or whisper. If you engage shout at the enemy disort them.

Mumble is a 2 good ended sword. You will have more fun if you hear your enemy talking and it would be more realistic. Please try not using ingame voip. The less you and others use it the more fun, atmosphere and communications you will get.

Bragg did you download PR mumble 0.5... If yes, the connection info should be there as default, just connect, if its not, just go on the thread, where the IP is, which is stickied on this forum MUMBLE

Good luck

He might forgot to type down his username (people often say they cant connect...and in 90% cases not typing in the username seems to be the issue)

Btw...this 2 channel thingy. I thought that you couldnt disable local talk (everyone nearby hearing you). 2 channels does prevent some idiots giving out plans to the enemy via Force Centre because they are dumb enough to ignore that fact.

Though since I havent been on mumble does TG have 2 "server" channels for the Mumble only server?

yes it does

its a far more relaxed arrangement, its in as if som1 had made it so all ur team can hear VOIP when they are near.

Sure, it sacrifices hearing the enemy's voices

But with mumble the enemy tend to speak the same language as you - i.e. bad
the dead try to have conversations with you - fun at first...but gets old real quick
you allies sit there for minutes going "oh yeah, BALLS IN YOUR MOUTH!" - fun at first, but gets super old super quick, especially when you are in a firefight and you need your 6th guy to help out...but he's busy smacktalking with some dude....

what it does do is-

make it so you don't have to check for dead enemies before you discuss plans, i.e. a more relaxed teamwork promoting atmosphere.
make it so there is less spam (16 people instead of 32, the only spam is som1 asking "is this teh MEC SL channel or USA?")

Problem with it - alot of people cannot alt tab to switch channels if needed.

But!!! Great TG members like Portable Cougar are happy to move those who require it (MAKE UR MUMBLE NICKNAME UR INGAME NICK)

The future -

I hope that the PR server gets autochannel switching so that this way of gaming can easily be promoted
I've also head that Mumble can understand what kit you are carrying, and I think it would be good if collaborators could hear the enemy

I disagree that 2 channels are better. Talking to the enemy is often great fun ( though I agree that tea bagging is getting old ) , and if you are worried about coms security, then you should use bf2 VOIP.

The other problem is adminning 2 channels - the Reality Teamwork servers often have all 64 players on mumble, so constantly making sure everyone that is in the correct channel would be an admin's nightmare.

If auto channel switching was implemented, then it could certainly be looked at, but at the moment I dont think that 2 channels is a better system.
