You could just always assume that the villages became abandoned because the water source dried up as well. Either they emptied the aquifer or the river ran dry. Just a thought...

IMO Kashan needs to be axed with the new wave of realistic maps coming through such as Sangin.
Although Kashan is a place, the map we play on ingame is simply unrealistic. I hate how it and others are simply just mirrored, so that if there's a airbase in the bottom left, there's also one in the top right. It's just a really caveman style of making maps. It also stupid how both teams have the same in the way of main-base layouts. I mean come on, if the US were invading a desert, they would not have such a base, it would be basic and hurried together, and the MEC base would be much more heavily fortified and better made. Kashan get's a big thumbs down from me. |

It always felt like a proof of concept map really, a show of potential rather than a finished article.

cheo, do me a favour...
open google earth and look up Iran. now when you have that open...look for anything blue... paradoxically you will fail...as Iran is practically void of rivers, inland bodies of water and oceans. and now that you mention it, alcoholic beverages are banned in Iran. which is why irish people dont go there on their holidays and subsequently Iran continues being a country renouned for it's horrible fashion and it's Tusken raiders. (random statement with no logic behind it aside...) plus, water would look really bad on kashan, dont you think? the whole point is that its a barran wilderness of dunes and flat open spaces. this is because you dont really want lots of trees to help cover up your tanks and infantry. the whole thing is about controlling your silloette and hiding your armour down low between the dunes. water would bring vegetation into the picture which would just look crummy. the contrast between the two would be just wrong. you dont want it to look like its the the Nile river in Ejypt or somthing. |

also water doesnt have to be blue heck the only water sources marked on a map, has to be found by a cartographer first

Use *reason*. I know Ireland isn't known for it, but surely you have some. I'd be willing to audit the map if I could get the build packages; I tried making my own via Rhino's tutorial but something always failed. M.
