Even though i don't squad lead much, occasionally i have these mic-less newcomers in my squad, so i just quickly ask did they read the manual, etc etc. If they didn't, I still let them be in the squad as long as they have VOIP enabled, so they can hear others. After a while they get to know the basics of combat and survival so they end up being on positive side of K/D-ratio.

And most of the time i assign them standard rifle or the specialist kit. But then again there are these people that just want to cause trouble for the rest of the squad, and usually they get booted from the server before they get to say ''cat''. And of course "Just do what I say over VOIP, if i say you'r name and go here / look at that *direction* incase enemy pops up."

But yeah, even though some people are mic-less, it's always good to ask did they read the manual.. and instruct them to read it after the round.

Even though one might not have a mic, that doesn't indicate they don't know the word "teamwork".

Many of you are asking for passworded servers - Ive set up a server with exactly that planned, once we have sufficient members. The whole idea behind it, is to avoid the problems that you guys are experiencing. So far we have a rather poor 115 members - we need far more members than that, to consistently fill a 64 player server.

Unfortunately, when it comes to other players, people seem to want quantity rather than quality. Over the last few days, many people seem to be playing ARMA2 because of these problems in PR, and these people tend to be the ones who are good teamplayers, who we should be trying our best to keep in the PR community. If they leave - then what will we be left with?

I also agree with Rudd regarding being friendlier to "noobs" - many of them (but not all) are actually very willing to learn how to play properly, and don't realise they are doing something wrong. Unfortunately these "noobs" also tend to be the ones who don't visit these forums, so they never actually see these discussions.

To be honest i played 4 times one night once on the GSA server had a blast no jerks great Aussie accent's.
Then i went to [T&T] great time again good squad till Krunks da game came on and started teamkilling with no admins on sucked.
Then went to TTP(texas Team players) Had a good time but could not stand these two A holes in my squad and i don't kick people from my squad really.
Then went to TG and had an encounter with an admin that liked saying "f you suck" to everyone who could not get within 5 feet for a rally(don't ask his name i forgot cause i left).
And then it was the same at GiB.
Point being Aussies and Tommie's are a lot more fun to play with compared to Americans and Canadians..plus they say funny words like bollocks and Crikey xD

only One,

Ps. the new patch is not helping in getting noobs to get up to speed really. i does not help to have to learn new rules every time a new patch comes out.

Not that im complaining im just saying it can be difficult for the newer players.

And as for the rubbish player yes we do get a lot of them these day’s, it was not a good idea to promo this game to the BF2 community,

I am a clueless Noob. Ploddit is my screen name.
I have been playing for about three months, my only other games experence is 1 year of VBF.
I never play without my mic, I always follow orders and try to do my best, using cover, supressive fire and I even take abandoned vehicles to base!
Last night for example I was on UKWF insurgency and I end up as SL I try to do my best but it is too much sometimes, I have a hard time trying to look after myself, so SLing on the frenetic insurgency maps is too much.
I felt bad as the SM's were excellent, so eventually I left and rejoined unfortunately leaving the medic (Zino I think) to become SL with the new problems of the limited medic kit to deal with.
It culminated with the squad respawning on main with a guy called BF2Paddy who TK'ed all the squad twice.
I came to PR for teamplay and tactics and even as a noob I try my best.

Now take that function, edit it for PR and force it the first couple of rounds. I'm not sure if that works thou.

And this is why you should be nice to new players. They can be doing their very best, even if they are new.

There should be servers where you need to apply for to be able to play on them.
Like a server called ''cow'' you first need to go too that servers forum page and post a application to be able to play on the server.

This way only real pr players will even try to get access on the server. If this is possible there would be a big difference between ''Noob'' servers, and ''pro tactic'' servers.

Here is your answer. Was not really necessary to create a new thread for it.

People need to learn the difference between "noobs" and "newbs", both have little to no experience but they have differing attitudes to the game. Let me explain:

This guy is a newb, he is new and is finding it hard to grapple with the complexities of PR, but he is in the right spirit and will no doubt become a pro in good time.

On the other hand we have johnny-no-mic who loves him some CQC sniper kits, doesn't listen to the squad leader and has no grasp or intention to learn of those nerdy 'tactics', he is a noob.

In previous releases some of each of these classes of newcomer have been attracted to the mod, it now seems like all the people who could play PR properly are already here, and the only thing we're getting are the noobs. Blame the vBF2 advert if you will, but it is only natural that the mod will reach critical mass at some point.

So before you go on a tirade on some poor new guy, just think: is he noob or is he newb?
