I can not believe how underused teamspeak is. For me it is very important to turn a so so game into a great game. Coordinating air support, getting convoys going or only attatching an infantery squad effectively to an apc squad can be done so much better with teamspeak. Yet most players do not seem to check if their favourite servers have teamspeak, or even worse, some clans make teamspeak exclusive to their members.

Mumble will not do you any good once the person you want to talk to is out of range. It is great for reducing spam on teamspeak if you do not need to radio. TS is still No.1 and mumble No.2.

Everyone uses Teamspeak. Mumble is for ingame.

Way I see it:
Mumble is your voice.
Mumble SL channel is the radio.

Mumble + VOIP = just right. I find TS to be just spammy and blah. Ideally VOIP would be fine on it's own, as additional VOIP clients just make the commander even MORE redundant.

Not true, if you follow the instructions proberly, there is both positional and forcecentered (IE, radio) Voip. Setup the channels so that SLs use forced centered and can speak to each other, while everyone else can speak in-game.

Not at all. In game you have 9 squads approximately equal to 3 Platoons = 1 Company. Now extra voip helps your Platoon coordinate together to take an objective, while the Commander deals with the one step ahead process, ordering people where and when to go, because he has the big picture. Extra VOIP not only assists, but makes the COs job that much easier and better.

-Have you tried Mumble? Because it can do basically anything Teamspeak can, and in addition it's open source so you can probably add any feature that is required. You can speak to player across the map using force center position, thereby talking to everyone in your channel. Recently on Korengal our side had all our SLs in one sub-channel so we could talk to each other across the map using force center position. In addition, the normal 3d positional audio and stuff worked worked with anyone in the parent channel. This way the SLs could communicate over any distance and still talk to anyone nearby with the normal keybind.

-And there's still a lot of options available in Mumble that we haven't even begun using yet.
