Are the fast ropes?

I've been playing this game for over a year, and I've never seen them used, but I've seen YouTube videos. Were they taken out in a patch? If not how would you use them?

fastropes are impossible in bf2 (in the proper sense), its actually a inside joke in PR community cause its posted about ALOT

The Youtube videos consist of people throwing grappling hooks out of the back of helicopters. Sure, you could try that, but you will fail. Therefore, no fastropes.

fake or some 1 throwing a rope out of the back and going down VERY slow and only possible with merlin.

If only they had fast ropes, that'd be so badass. In the next patch they should add fast ropes or a hook that you could throw your grapple through, at least in the Merlin.
