Shift, Z, X, C, V, B, N, M
Crtl, Space
Page Up, Page Down

Mouse 1, Mouse 2, Mouse Scroll, Mouse Axis Y, Mouse Axis X

That's just off the top of my head. There's more.
And now that's narrow that down.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (I believe this is all the weapons in any jet, including bombers, could be wrong. Also could just map 2 keys: for 1, and F, or even some frequently used weapon-switches)
W (Map to pulling L or R trigger on back)
A, D (Map to bumpers on top)
Mouse up/left/down/right (All mappable to thumbstick)
Shift (Map to button)
X (Map to button)
Ctrl (Can it be used? Map to thumbstick push?)
Mouse1, Mouse2 (Mouse1 to open trigger, Mouse2 to button?)

Now, I think that covers most anything. There's (not including the weapons AT ALL) 4 non-movement triggers [Shift, X, Mouse1/2, and 5 if you add ctrl]. There's 4 buttons on a 360 controller, perfect for their use if you so wish.

All pitch/roll control can be mapped to a thumbstick's axises. Yaw control can be done either through the second thumbstick, or the 2 bumpers.

That leaves 2 thumbstick push buttons, an up-down on one thumbstick, possibly a single button, both select and start, and a trigger or use, that have not even been considered.

I probably missed something, but that's MORE than enough for use on a controller. People who have played Ace Combat etc are probably better off. Is there a way, perhaps, to set up wireless 360 controllers to your computer?

Awesome, but he wanted to know about using the controller for all aspects of the game and not just a jet.

I havnt flown choppers in awhile but it might be good for that too.
He said that the aiming was wonky as infantry.

Therefore, my post addressed jets (the most control-heavy vehicles in game) and how they are able to be set up with 360 controllers.

You can change buttons and such for whatever vehicle you're in (when you're in a land vehicle, WASD controls could be applied to left thumbstick (W and S to triggers as well), mouselook to right thumbstick, trigger or button to fire, change weapon modes, etc etc etc.

Helicopters can be set to such and such, so on and so forth.

This is pretty sweet, might look into this.

2 questions:

-I have a couple of regular 360 controllers, do I just buy something so I can use them on my computer?
-Does this work with Vista?

1) As long as they are not wireless, they should plug right in through a USB port. If they are wireless, you need to buy a 'Microsoft Wireless 360 controller adaptor' kind of thing.

2) I assume so; XP's SP3 had it, and it should be integrated into Vista. However, it seems that it doesn't always flow right in Vista, so if your computer doesn't recognize the controller immediately, go here and choose controllers; xbox 360 windows controller; etc etc. to get the drivers.

1. If they're wired, go to Microsoft's Website and simply download the drivers, if they're wireless, you may need to either buy the specialized adapter as earlier mentioned, but I believe if you have a wireless card and the right drivers you can still make it work.

2. Yes, it works on Vista as well, at least in my experience so far.

Vista finds the drivers automatically through windows update.

For people with PS3 controllers, there is a 3rd party driver you can use with PCs (XP and vista I believe).

PS3 Sixaxis Controller Can Be Used In Windows! - DCEmu Forums:: The Homebrew & Gaming Network :: PSP Dreamcast Nintendo DS Wii GP2X Xbox 360 GBA Gamecube PS2 Apple iPhone PS3 Wiz Pandora Forums

Unfortunately nobody has released a version which is wireless or has Dualshock/Sixaxis compatibility, I'm sure that Sony will release a driver one day.
