How is damage calculated? Is it a straight "this material X was hit by projectile Y so damage Z is inflicted"?

there is a damage modifier for each 'set' of matierials, so projectile material hitting armour would have a modifier of, say, m.

there is then the default damage done by each projectile as defined in tweak files, I will cause this t.

It would make most sence to say the total damage is t*m, but it would only be a guess without actually testing it.

This method would lead to a lot of useful stuff, like a bullet doing different amounts of damage to different things while a second bullet (with smaller total damage) does smaller amounts of damage to each but in the same proportions. It would also be easy to code and intuitive to understand.

Best post ever made!

Seems weird that the easiest part to hit is the weakest.

Also, why is the base of the barrel apparently "cloth"?

Well it has a cloth "dust cover", as it were--but there's metal behind it, correct? Granted, shooting through it would damage the firing mechanism.

Does this mean that spot is really weak on the Scimitar and Warrior?

Shouldn't do any more/less damage than most other places.

It is my understanding that the damage system works as jonny stated. I know that's how it works for the handheld weapon projectiles, and they're all the same category (projectiles), so I think it's safe to assume it is t*m.

I know theres a lot "hard" material in strange places on CR2, for example tanks - well, at least I heard that somewhere

So how is it trully in BF2? Does it depend on material the projectile is hitting or hit points of that material/object. Cause I still dont get it... maybe its food poisoning... gonna read this again later ;P

Also off topic slightly... is it just me or... whenever I see this thread title Im reading it Scimitar girls... probably another problem of mine though... ;P

[R-MOD]Mongolian_dude: ...remember to show as much respect to the new players as the veteran players. Todays 'noob' is tomorrow's 'Vet'.

Reddish_Red: We're fine...

Random.. ehmmm... "player": Give me the chopper. No. I want to fly. No. But I want to, get out from it now or I TK you. ... ... ... No

Just noticed this thread again, nice post there SleepyHe4d, my post (if it was directed at me) was as a Military advisor, so he could - for reference - see how it works in Rl - hence the beginning of my post stated "In RL" !!!

I actually do know how to read funnily enough, 17 years in the British Army(so far) and 2 A levels - kinda taught me.

Now I am not gonna post anything I shouldn't here, so I will say one thing - and please "read it" ......

If you have a problem with my posts please pm me, and we will sort this out in private ?

Thank you.
