Theres another rail on the bottom, loose the foregrip and put a '203 on there!

Or even better, another M32, and another, and another...

And now for my mandatory criticism of this "new" weapon and its purchacers, it was invented over 20 years ago in South Africa, and its Aparthied era origins (as well as those of the people who designed the MRAP series, the Mastiff, etc) seems to have been covered up.

What, our governments not proud of the fact that much of their "new" equipment was originally designed to keep one of the most racist regimes in history in business (despite the fact they were funding them to fight Cuban & SWAPO forces during the Angolan Border War). Or perhaps its that though the the technology was already there they felt that soldiers lives wernt valuable enough for them to swallow their pride and admit that what the SADF had come up with under sanctions was better than anything they had designed...

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

My impression is that the M32 grenade launcher will be replacing the M203 as the M32 launches a completely different round than the 203. Yes they are still 40mm but it the M32 uses a longer round to implement other variants like the one with the parachute and camera. You also have to consider that the M32 is mostly plastic and weight is mostly in the grenades, thus not making it any heavier than the 203 it is replacing.

I could see a 0311 carrying his normal rifle plus the M32 loadout very easily.

The M32/Milkor 140 has a longer chamber to accommodate the newer less lethal, pyrotechnic and other utility rounds, but it still fires the NATO standard family of 40 x 46mm low velocity HE/HEDP rounds.

In the field trials I've read about that seems to be the practice. I'm sure it beats the M79 and M1911 combo that squad grenadiers had in Vietnam. Still don't know for sure where it will be in the squad organization; proposed new squad is 12 men, with two standard fire teams, the squad leader and three other troops, I guess among them the M32 grenadier and SAM/SDM.

Hey man, don't blame the weapon. Grenade launchers don't kill people (well...), people kill people.

America is not at war. The American military is at war. America is at the mall.

I don't blame the weapon, I blame the Government, the companies and the marketing. I don't deny that the MGL is a fine weapon that stands to substantially increase the firepower of any infantry section that get to use it. its the whole thing that surrounds it. Its being hailed as a brand new American weapon when in truth its been kicking about for more than 2 decades and was in use in nations considered part of the Third World for a very long time.

Its like the HK416. Taking something that works and is well known then dressing it up as something thats brand new, made of unobtainium and powered by black magic...

The problem is the gun industry, especially in America, is all about hype. Not a whole lot of innovation, just a lot of advertising and sexy ladies.
