After this thread I looked for some information on the QBZ 95 assault rifle's fire modes, this is what I found:
Some people claim it has no full auto mode (see linked thread above), but wikipedia says: Quote:
While http://www.securityarms.com/20010315.../1700/1722.htm says: Quote:
Who is right and which source is more reliable? Is it that there are several variants, all commonly used, so the current layout is as good as any? Interestingly, wikipedia uses the second quote as a source for its article on the rifle, however does not use the data given here in its description. Because of that I would be more inclined to believe the second quote, however there is a missing picture and the website does not really look professional. I would say that both sources are equally valid because of this. Are there any other sources out there we should know about before deciding on the firemodes which should be in game? Finally, please dont reply to the thread with things like 'It's too arcadey', or just an opinion without a reason to back it up, I actually want to know more about the rifle and not just start a huge argument about gameplay, because you can still have a full auto rifle if you play as GB and you can have semi & 3 round burst if you play as US. | ||

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like? Best post ever made! EG: PPSh is made of win and quite possibly stamped sheet metal |

A similar problem with the HK21E MG. Wikipedia as well as HKPRO says that most of them have a 3 round burst trigger group. In-game it doesn't.

I have not seen any two sources that I consider to be authoritative agree on the trigger group for the QBZ-95. Jane's Infantry Weapons doesn't specify it, which leads me to believe they don't even know for sure.

I found some pictures of the selector switch on the QBZ-95. I see two positions for it and a next to it what appears to be a button which could be either the release mechanism for the end cap on the butt of the rifle or a maybe a safety switch not unlike the Steyr AUG's push across one.

I thought there was a guy from the PRC that was on the forums, perhaps he can chime in...

Heavy Arms Z, yeah. IIRC he said it was SEF.

The fact is all the info on the Chinese internet says that it has only a single shot, and a burst mode. Not a fully automatic fire mode. The early models that were made for testing had them, but they cut it out for the same reasons the US Army did with the M16A4 models. IE it shoots too fast, and too easy to jam up mid combat. They changed it over to a single shot or burst mode weapon to also make sure their troops conserve ammo. Just like the US has done.
Why is this even up for debate? It's all over the net that this gun dose not have a fully automatic setting on the fire selector. Just fix it and the problem is solved. As for the HK21 it dose have a burst mode, just like it did in BF2. I can't understand why the devs took it out, the SAW as well has a single shot mode that is used for long range targets when you need more shots on one spot than in one area. The AK-47 has a single shot, burst mode, and fully automatic fire selector, as well as the PKM has a single shot mode. I think all of these guns need to have their fire modes the way they are in real life or it's not a Realism mod. IE at one point we had Burst, and single shot as well as full automatic on AK-47s and it was a great balancer to the M16s killer long range, and it's needed even more now that the M16A4s have their ACOG addons. |

Maybe it's because I can't read Chinese, but as far as I looked the Type 95 is said to have fully automatic mode. This discussion is more about the burst mode BTW.
There's also one thing that bothers me in your post (not talking about the altitude now). Where the hell did you read that AK has a burst mode ? |

Gunwing: I'm not to sure about the M249 SAW having a single shot selector. I was under the impression that very short automatic bursts were used for long ranges. Wikipedia thinks so too
