Can't wait for 0.7. Hope there will be some good US Army vs Insurgents insurgency maps. 0.6 Basrah has disappointed me so far

M82 is hidden next to the A-10.

I dont see this map really played properly unfortunately. Ive never seen the brits go round and blow up every spawn car, that wouldnt be that hard to do.
The insurgents could then controlled at whatever limited spawn point they have left
I usally have my squad blow up every red car we see along the way to caches and stuff.

After a long absence of 4 months i logged back in and played Basrah as Insurgent.

To sum it up, i was disappointed with .61.

+The long view distance was cool when it was introduced. Now it is killing action. APCs camp on the ramps at the checkpoint and kill you from a mile away.

+LAG. My FPS is good, i have a fast computer. It never drops below my VSYNC frame rate which is 75HZ but the movements feel plasticky and elastic. It feels like the takes takes another 0.5sec for the server to catch up with me. Rpgs fire but the warhead is still on my rpg. Massive lag spikes no matter what server i play on. Are servers overloaded?

+Map design is boring. Basrah may look like the real thing but with 100 bridges into the city there is literally NO place to set an IED on the map thus rendering the ambusher class useless.

+Recoil formula feel basic and inadequate. I shot my AK for a full clip without touching my mouse and the barell ended up pointing in the sky. Insurgent guns feel lifeless. British rifles are the best.

+The most serious thing i noticed is that Basrah has become the dullest map on the rotation. Before there used to be firefights everywhere. You could hear people firing all the time and you could feel the heat and immersion of battle.
I parked my APC on the main road at checkpoint to support my squad as they hunted a cache and blimey! it was quieter than i have ever imagined.

My conclusion is this "the farther away you can spot the enemy, the worse the gameplay factor".

Dont believe me? Next release include one desert map like Basrah and all teams get iron sights. Include plenty of jeeps and ammunition and reduce the draw distance. Next thing you know there are 10 24/7 Basrah servers

Insurgents are not meant to directly attack... 'specially VCP. Sit in the city, place some IED's and wait for troops to come past.

Destroying bridges is still a highly useful tactic and a good INS team will always do it. Mines are far more useful for taking out APC's and Rovers now. You can't say this makes the Ambusher useless because before all the INS had were IED's...which weren't that great for taking out vehicles as roadside bombs...now they get AT mines which are horribly effective.

And this is a problem with the map how?

Thats because there isn't the A-10 soundbug anymore so you don't the constant (annoying) noise assaulting your ears. .5 Basrah had no firefights whatsoever, don't be silly. The US just bimbled around at airport, wandered around on their own on foot or raped the INS with A10's or Cobra's. It is complete bullshit to say there were firefights everywhere since the infantry side of things was totally overlooked. In .6 it is the main focus. The UK infantry attack and stick together, even on pub servers with APC's and Rovers providing support. I have had some intense firefights in the middle of Basrah, around the mosque, around Industry, the south VCP area (especially if the Brits are attacking from the desert) and well...pretty much everywhere on the map.

My conclusion is this "you shouldn't try and engage enemies with scopes at long range."

The only thing this proves is that people cannot play the game properly and want to fly around in an A10 against an enemy that can't defend against them.

Oh really? There WERE times when I used to switch back to insurgent team while others were switching to USMC. It was fun to annoy USMC airfoce with the SA-7. The only way to win a round in 0.5 was to keep A10 and cobras away from the city and it was quite easy. What I hate about 0.6 basrah is that they took out the anti-aircraft element. It was really fun taking out A10's an cobras and then relocating to another roof. Many times I had to wait long minutes until another A10 spawned at the airport and flew over the city to get shot down again.
Good old memories

Well, I think this topic has been discussed to death.

Let's see. 0.61 from 0.6 is indeed progress. Insurgency mode is a step forward in regards to in-depth gameplay....what this mod is all about.

The US are not in Basrah for a reason. The British are still to this day based in Basrah International Airport. Plus the original map creator (himself currently doing his RMC course) specifically requested it was Brits vs Ins only.

The main problem with people wingeing about playing as INS is how they engage British Forces. You are an insurgent force, NOT a conventional army. You can not realistically expect to take and hold ground as per conventional armies. You cannot expect to have up to date weapon systems, so you should be thinking of ways to channel, ambush, and make best use of the weapons you have at your disposal.

The biggest surprise is people complaining how they love the A-10. Guess what....aircraft are NOT something that's used to bomb targets inside Basrah irl.

So, to end this topic....
