I hope if this does make it into the mod, that the entire HUD won't zoom in like in the video, but only the lens part like in the video.

While I'm not completely certain on this, I think the reason why it "scopes in" faster is because he is using the aim-point animations
Also, as for your second point, it is much more realistic to be able to "see beyond the scoped circle".
As for the third point, it isn't possible to have two different levels of magnification simultaneously. To be honest that third point doesn't make it more powerful imo.

And why this is better you ask? Besides being realistic (apart from the whole screen zoomed and the black inside the scope, both engine limitations), It also looks better.

I don't think 3D scopes will be good because the entire HUD is zooming in too, the only part that should be magnified is the lense part of the scope like in the video hibernative posted. But I know you can't do that in PR, but it'll make the whole game feel less realistic because the whole screen zooms in.

Almost all fps games have the entire screen zoomed when using 3d scopes, u just didn't noticed(ex: ArmA 2, America's army, COD 6: Modern warfare 2, etc.)

Chuc, an updated(screenshot/video) on how the work is going would be nice.

Interesting point iAllex. Never noticed that. Who'd have thought putting tow different magnification levels in the same view would be so problematic?

The only solution I see to the entire HUD being magnified is to increase the blur so the player can only make out nearby objects (realistic enough).

Oh my god that is amazing. I understand that the whole screen zooming isn't realistic, but seeing outside the scope is so much better than having the "tunnel vision" that you get with blacking out the non-scope part.
