...such as receiving the acknowledgement of your hard work and effort by your peers. Cheesy? Maybe, but it's true for most of us on the team.

Which is why I'm happy on days like today, when the development team and management decide to make a raft of what we term 'bumps' from one area of the team to another.

Although the PR team generally operate without too much of an hierarchy there is one in place when it comes to the mod's overall direction and in the decision-making process. There's also the difference in how the various roles on the team are perceived by the community, of course. Both of these mean that whilst R-CON and R-COM members of the team are just as important as Developers to the long-term success of the team, there's usually a great deal of pride for people who receive the recognition of wearing Developer's tags.

So with that in mind, I'd like to congratulate the following Contributors on being made full Developers of Project Reality: Battlefield 2:

Sniperdog, for his amazing coding work.

Hauteclocque, for his work on importing. (He also heads up the French Community faction).

Rudd, for both the work he's done on his own map but also for editing/auditing all maps for the next release of PR:BF2.

and finally Outlawz, for his longstanding efforts with the PR_SP team and in his mapping.

I hope you'll join me in thanking them for their effort and congratulating them for the recognition of their work.

Regards,

...to come up with our April Fool's Day jape this year. On hearing some of the responses from the community, she penned this little ditty for the team.

Feel free to sing along - the tune is obviously "Still Alive" ;)

This was a triumph!
I'm making a note here: huge success.
It's hard to overstate
my satisfaction.

Project Reality.
We do what we must
Because we game.

For the good of all of you
Who love fastropes too.

But there's no sense crying
over every spoof,
You just keep on trying
'til you run out of goats.
And the dev'ing gets done
and you make a neat gun
for the people who
love fastropes.

We're not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now -
even though you doubted us
and called bull.

And tore us to pieces.
And teabagged every piece.
As you dipped it hurt because
we were so happy for you!

Now these targa files
makes a sweet texture,
we're out of beta
we're releasing on time!

So I'm glad you got burned -
think of all the things you learned -
bout the people who
love fastropes.

Dev1200 - go ahead and leave us
We'd prefer you stay behind
Maybe you'll find someone else
to mod for you?
Maybe Eve of Destruction?

That was a joke - haha, fat chance.

Anyway this mod is great.
It's so c001 and l337!

Look at me still typing
when there's work to do!
When I look out there
it makes me glad I'm not you!

We've got open betas to run,
there is hoaxing to be done,
on the people who
love fastropes
and believe me that we
love fastropes
We're running betas and we
love fastropes
I feel fantastic and we
love fastropes...
(etc)

I'd like to give a warm thank-you and goodbye to AfterDune, who has decided to take a step back from his role within the management group. Over the last year he's put an awful lot of hard work into revising how the Community Factions are run, and it's resulted in the changes that we've all seen. The Canadian, IDF and Hamas have all made it in-game, with the Germans not far behind - thanks in part to AfterDune's efforts in keeping things organised and reviewing progress regularly.

With those achievements behind him he's decided to step down into a developing role again, leaving his position as Community Faction Manager open.

J.F.Leusch69 has been involved with the ComFacs for some time now, and was the natural choice for his replacement. He'll be working with the rest of the Management Group and the R-COM team leads to oversee the implementation of the remaining ComFacs and I'm sure that like me, you're looking forward to seeing the outcome of his efforts.

As many of you will know, I'm not a mapper, modeller, coder or texture artist. As such, I don't directly contribute into each new release of Project Reality, but I support the team through more random tasks - things like editing news posts, helping recruit new staff and generally trying to make life easier for people.

One of the things that I've been involved with recently has been trying to provide high-quality reference materials to the team's texture artists, modellers and mappers. A fair bit of time goes in to finding good, high-quality pictures of buildings, weapons, landscapes and the like, that the creative guys can then work from to produce the in-game representations.

High-quality pictures of Taleban, militia and insurgents are scarce for obvious reasons - when I entered "(Taleban OR Taliban) fighter" into Google Imagesearch, I knew that the useful hits would be limited.

I wasn't expecting the picture in this link, however.

Anyone for "Giant Ginger Tom" as a spawn kit in 1.0? ;)
